Diamond Garden Chair

Its January , the weather is cold and if you are like me you didn't have room to store any plastic outdoor furniture in the garage this past winter.  Your plastic , wood or metal furniture might look faded , dirty ,  screaming for an upgrade .

Can you hear it scream Clairece?

LOL I joke , Ok moving right along .... This is my plastic garden chair that used to be a vibrant sage green and it has sat in my back yard for the past two years serving its purpose as a lounge. It has held up its end of the bargain so I thought what a nice way to repay this chair into its yester year Glory!

Step One .

I went to the store and bought my base coat of spray paint, I used an entire can in 3 coats letting each coat dry 25 to thirty mins in between spraying. After the third coat of Silver which is the color my chair is I let it dry over night.

Not that exciting as of yet ... but wait and see! This chair goes from Dumpy to Dramatic in a few more coats ;)

After three coats of the glitter spray this is what I ended up with! Shine Bright Like a Diamond! Elton John would be envious! Cant go to vegas just stare at my chair! And lots of other glitter comparisons .. time for the show off portion of the blog .... 3 2 1

Lawn gnome zombie

I have seen awesome zombie gnomes on Pinterest and I remembered I had a broken gnome in my shed! So I decided to break out the paints and turn my gnome undead. I used red, green, white , brown , and off white acrylic paint to archive the zombie paint job and assorted small brushes. I finished off with a spray matte clear sealer to protect it from the elements. But I'm sure it will just get cooler with age ;)

My Best Thrift Store Finds !

The above pictures are just a few of my awesome thrift store finds.  I was raised on garage sales , resale shops, and hand me downs. I have no quams about second hand goods. 
Our society is so strung up on getting the newest the best the most advanced that I feel the gently used and old items we toss out like trash can be someones treasure. 

The number one thing you will find at any thrift shop is books. LOADS of books. If you like to read and a Kindle is not your cup of tea you will find many books on all topics. 

The second item is housewares. The silver tray is an old army tray. I can picture a soldier getting a serving of mashed potatoes on it. The Edgeman Milk pitcher is ceramic and is an old advertising piece . The smaller of the two old cameras I found at a Thrift store, the larger one was given to me. 
Also the three plates of old fruit crate labels was an amazing find I think I paid 9 bucks for all three.

I love getting a bargain. Also finding old, and new pieces for my home is also a plus.  I hope you hit some garage sales and resale shops in your towns! Let me know what amazing things you have found!
